Gameweek 12 Preview

Saturday 1st August

Sandefjord v Molde (away win)

Molde travel to Sandefjord on Saturday afternoon on the back of a convincing 4-1 win against Vålerenga, as they bounce back from that defeat against Glimt. It was another example of how strong a squad they have and the spread of goals, as 4 different scorers gave them the win, and Eikrem as well as Leke James both sat on the bench for most of the game.

Sandefjord went into half time leading Kristiansund 1-0, but ended up with a 3-1 defeat on Wednesday. A third game in 6 days could be a tough ask for the promoted side, against Molde who have the ability to rotate, particularly in the attacking areas, Sandefjord could find it really tough on Saturday evening.

Molde have now won 9 out of 11 games, and in 8 of those games, they have been leading at half time. Sandefjord have lost 7 games, in 5 of them they have been behind at the half.

With Molde having much more ability to rotate, 3 days after a good win for them and poor defeat for Sandefjord, I expect nothing other than Molde taking the lead in this one on the first half, and stretching their legs in the second.

In 22 halves of football, Molde have only failed to score in four of them, so I expect them to be scoring in both halves here too.

It is hard to see how Sandefjord can trouble Molde, and against the other promoted sides, Molde have scored 4 and 3 goals, both away from home.

Bet builder: Molde HT/FT, Molde to score in both halves(2.87)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Leke James(1.90), Eikrem(2.10) or Hussain(3.10)

Brann v Vålerenga (Draw)

Brann are now 4 games without a win as they were beaten at Strømsgodset 3-1 on Wednesday. They were well beaten in the end, struggling defensively, but also heavily reliant on Gilbert Koomson in attack. Bamba is getting more and more frustrated with his lack of goals and service, but Koomson now has 8 this season after another goal in defeat.

Vålerenga were well beaten by Molde, but there was some bright things to note. Bård Finne got a goal off the bench, but it was Osame Sahraoui that continues to improve. The teenager looks like a real good talent and is starting to create more for Vålerenga, which is important that they don't become reliant on Dønnum on the right hand side.

One thing I think will happen in this game is both teams getting a goal. Brann have only failed to score in 2 games so far, Vålerenga in just 1. So although neither are scoring massive amounts of goals, they are both creating chances and have enough attacking threat.

It probably won't be a high scoring game, but I do think both teams have their best players in attack. This game in the last 3 years hasn't had a lot of goals, no more than 3 in the last 6 games.

In terms of players scoring, it is hard to look past Gilbert Koomson for Brann. He has scored in the last 3 games, and 5 in the last 5. In terms of Vålerenga, they are struggling to find a regular goalscorer. Chief creating comes from Dønnum and Borchgrevink on the right hand side, and for me, the left back for Brann is terrible.

So I am looking at those two creating something for either Sahraoui or Stokke to get a goal.

Bet Builder: Both teams to score, Under 4.5 goals (2.15)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Koomson(3.60), Sahraoui(7.00) or Stokke(3.20)

Sunday 2nd August

Bodø/Glimt v Strømsgodset (home win)

Glimt finally dropped their first points of the season at Stabæk on Thursday evening, losing a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2. They should have been out of sight, especially at 2-1 when they missed several good chances. But they were pegged back and in the second half didn't quite get going.

There were goals again for Saltnes and Junker, that is 5 and 10 respectively for those two. They have now conceded in the last five games though, 7 in total, so they will have to tighten things up at the back.

Strømsgodset beat Brann 3-1 on Wednesday with a good display in what has been an inconsistent start to the season. There was another goal for Moses Mawa, that is 3 in the last 6 games for him as he starts to be more of a threat. I'm not particularly impressed with him, but he is quick and has an eye for goal. Not convinced he is a very smart player, but his attributes mean he is hard to stop if he is on a good day.

This game should be one for the home side to go back to winning ways. As well as that it is a game we can expect goals, probably for both teams. Godset have conceded over 2 goals a game on average away from home, with Glimt scoring over 3.5 on average. Godset have conceded at least 2 in every away game, so it will be tough for them on Sunday.

Glimt have scored at least two in every game still, and we can expect that to continue. I think the right hand side of the Godset defense could find it really tough against Hauge, Bjørkan and Saltnes, and I expect goals to be created from that area.

Godset, although they are slowly improving, lost 4-0 against Molde just three games ago, and I'm expecting another tough one for them here, the only saving grace they have is the extra days rest which might help keep the score down.

Bet Builder: Both teams to score, Glimt to score in both halves(2.50)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Zinckernagel(1.80), Hauge(1.90) or Mawa(4.33)

Haugesund v Stabæk (draw)

Stabæk became the first team to take points off of Glimt on Thursday with a well deserved point in a good performance from them. Emil Bohinen was really impressive in the middle of the park, and so was Hugo Vetlesen. There were goals from Solheim and Normann Hansen that keeps them up in 6th place with only 2 defeats so far.

Haugesund played out a pretty unsurprising 0-0 draw with Sarpsborg as both teams continued their goal scoring troubles. That is now just 1 goal in the last 6 games for Haugesund, one win and two draws in amongst those games.

With an extra days rest, and back at home, I think they have a good chance here, in what is likely to be a low scoring game. Although Stabæk score and concede more than one goal a game on average, Haugesund's last eight games have resulted in 7 of them being under 3 goals, only a 3-0 defeat to Molde being over that.

Stabæk don't sit back on the road though, averaging 1.6 goals scored and conceded, so it is possible an early goal could open this one up, but I won't bet on it. One thing is that Ibrahima Wadji has had two games now back from his doping ban, so should be getting up to speed and he could be due his first goal.

Both teams have exciting young players I have talked about and mentioned a lot this season worth keeping an eye on. Hugto Vetlesen for Stabæk and Kristoffer Velde for Haugesund have impressed, and are both goal threats this weekend.

One thing I am looking at this weekend in this one is corners for Stabæk. They average over 4 corners a game away from home, but adding to the fact that Haugesund concede nearly 7 on average at home, it is worth backing Stabæk corners.

Bet Builder: Stabæk 4 corners or more and Stabæk to score at least 1(2.55)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Vetlesen(6.00), Velde(4.33) or Wadji(2.75)

Sarpsborg v Aalesund(Draw)

Aalesund finally got their first win of the season on Wednesday as they came from behind at half time to win 3-2 against Start. It was hattrick number two of the season for Holmbert Fridjonsson, who moves on to 8 goals for the season.

Sarpsborg meanwhile were playing out a 0-0 draw with Haugesund, the 5th time this season now that they have failed to score. Just 10 goals in 11 games, it is clear what their main issue has been.

Off the back of that win on Wednesday, Aalesund will have their tails up, and I am backing them to come in to this and get a goal in the first half. They have scored 11 goals in the first half of the 16 they have total, just 2 of the 11 games they haven't scored in the first half, despite only winning once.

Sarpsborg are the opposite, they have only 3 first half goals, but they have conceded 9 in the first half of games, out of the 12 total.

Aalesund have scored and conceded in every game except one, so I don't see this one being any different, and because Sarpsborg are generally not seeing both teams to score, the odds are good.

Sarpsborg generally prefer to play counter attacking football, but I think they will try and assert their dominance on Aalesund, so I can't see it being a low scoring game.

The home side win a lot of corners usually, and given Aalesund have shown a little bit more spirit the last two games defensively, I can see them blocking a lot of shots and Sarpsborg winning plenty corners.

Bet Builder: Aalesund to score in FH, Both teams to score, 9+ corners(4.50)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Ofkir(3.40), Larsen(2.50) or Fridjonsson(3.20)

Start v Mjøndalen(Home Win)

Start are still searching that first win after losing at Aalesund as they find themselves joint bottom of the table. Recently they have been showing a little bit more resolve, and in fairness they were probably unlucky at Aalesund, with a dubious penalty award, as well as hitting the underside of the bar while the game was 2-2.

Mjøndalen are in free fall now after a decent start to the season. They have lost six straight games, and were really poor in losing 2-0 at home to Odd on Wednesday night, although they did play with 10 men for 65 minutes. Start could jump them with a win, and if Aalesund win as well, Mjøndalen could be bottom of the league by Monday.

The last 3 home games for Start have been drawn, with two 0-0 games and a 1-1. So this will likely be another tight game with not many goals. Both these sides have only 10 goals each in the 11 games so far, and both will be low in confidence.

One Start player who has been good this season is Mathias Bringaker, he is scoring goals, and has continued to be a threat despite none of his teammates really chipping in with goals. He has 4, and only Schulze with 2 has more than 1 goals so far.

It's a similar problem for the away side, Ibrahim has 4, only one other player has 2. Ibrahim however has lost his form after scoring 4 straight goals, he now has gone 5 without scoring.

Hard to see past a low scoring game here, either side stealing a 1 goal win or a draw. I prefer Start because they are at home, and they shown signs of scoring goals recently, far more so than Mjøndalen.

Bet Builder: under 3.5 goals, Start to win or draw(1.80)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Bringaker(3.10), Skålevik(2.60) or Olden Larsen(4.00)

Viking v Kristiansund(Home win)

Viking were beaten 3-0 at Rosenborg on Thursday, but it was a really flattering result for the home side as Viking should have been ahead by 1 or 2 goals in the first half. Berisha missed a couple of good chances, and they dominated play for 35 minutes.

Kristiansund turned round a 1-0 deficit at half time to win 3-1 over Sandefjord, a much needed win after 6 games without a 3 points. The goals were shared out between Bye, Skarsem and Pellegrino as they looked far better than Sandefjord.

This game should be a good one, Viking have looked far better the last few games, and they are playing some excellent attacking football now. Kristiansund are tough to beat, but they aren't keeping clean sheets, just two so far.

As well as looking at both teams scoring here, I will be looking at corners. In 8 of the 11 matches so far, there has been at least 10 corners in Viking games, and it is 7 of 11 for Krsitiansund games.

KBK have scored in 9 of the 11 games, and Viking have scored in 8 of their games. It should easily be 9 with the chances they missed against RBK, some of them very good saves.

With the extra days rest it might help Kristiansund a little, but I think on Thursday Viking made substitutes early since they were behind, and should be good to go on Sunday.

Bet Builder: Both teams to score, over 9.5 corners in the match(2.45)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Berisha(2.50), Pellegrino(2.30) or Ibrahimaj(4.33)

Odd v Rosenborg(Draw)

Odd have moved up to third in the table after their win over Mjøndalen, and have won 4 out of their last 5 games. A double for Joshua Kitolano on Wednesday gave them their latest win, and they will be looking forward to welcoming Rosenborg with an extra days rest on their side.

Rosenborg as was said were very flattered with their 3-0 win over Viking, but they did play much better in the second half of that game, pressing high and winning the ball back, and there was a goal for Torgeir Børven as well, which will give him confidence as he returns to his old stomping ground.

This is a tough one to call, as I do think RBK are very slowly improving, but Odd are finding ways to win games. Rosenborg have only conceded 8 goals in the 11 games so far, but they gave up a lot of chances on thursday, so I can't see them keeping another one on Sunday night.

RBK didn't score in their last two away games, and were really poor against Haugesund last weekend when they lost 1-0. Odd have conceded 9 in their 6 home games so far, so I think both teams to score here is likely, especially with Børven against his old club.

I like with the extra days rest, and form they are in to look at Odd not losing this game, as RBK have struggled on the road recently, and have struggled to put two good games together back to back.

Also, with Børven against his old club, how often do players seem to score against them. Well he is a good price to do it anytime, so worth a punt.

Bet Builder: Odd to win or draw, Both teams to score(2.40)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Børven(2.50), Bakenga(2.87) or Helland(3.60)

Molde to score in both halves (2.10) NAP

Gameweek 11 Preview

Wednesday 29th July

Aalesund v Start (Draw)

The two bottom sides in the league go head to head in Aalesund on Wednesday still searching for their first wins. Will one team finally get off the mark in the win column, or will it be a draw that helps nobody

Aalesund nearly got a point at Odd on Saturday, a late own goal meaning they lost 3-2. They had twice fought back from going behind, despite going down to 10 men at 2-1 down. A stupid double booking within 2 minutes from left back Olafsson, pulling back his opponent twice.

Simen Bolkan Nordli scored his 3rd of the season, the 20 year old is one shining light in their dismal start to Eliteserien life.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Start continued to show a defensive resolve, a 6th straight game with less than 3 goals. Their last 6 games averaging just 1 goal. It was a 0-0 draw with Stabæk this time, and they should have won with several good opportunities and a couple of efforts cleared off the line.

This is a battle of two teams struggling in different ways. Start struggling to score, Aalesund struggling to stop conceding. Start have eight goals, but six of them came in the first three games. So that is just two goals in seven games.

Aalesund on the other hand have scored 13, scoring in every game but one. However they have now conceded an incredible 32 goals at an average of 3.2 per game.

This is a tough one to call, Aalesund beat Start twice last year but both were in good form in the league below. I wouldn't like to call a result on this one, so have to look elsewhere for value.

One thing to look at is both teams to score. Aalesund have not kept any clean sheets this season, and despite Start keeping it tight, they have not kept a clean sheet away from home. Add to that the extra days rest Aalesund have, I can see both teams scoring.

Start average 4.75 corners away from home, so maybe 4+ corners for the away team could work aswell, especially against fellow strugglers Aalesund.

Bet Builder: Both teams to score, under 4.5 goals in the game (2.10)

Goalscorers to add to bet Builder: Nordli(3.40), Ramsland(2.87) or Fridjonsson(2.50)

Kristiansund v Sandefjord (Home win)

Kristiansund continue to be the draw specialists in Eliteserien, that is 6 now after their 1-1 draw with Brann on Saturday night. It was not the most exciting game to watch, two second half goals deciding it, with Dan Peter Ulvestad heading in a late equaliser for KBK.

Pellegrino picked up a knee injury in the game, and he is now a doubt for this one on Wednesday. It is hard to see where the threat is without him in the team.

Sandefjord got their third win of the season with an excellent 1-0 win over Mjøndalen on Sunday. It was a scrappy goal from Erik Brenden that takes them on to 10 points in 10 games.

Despite being draw specialists, this is a game Kristiansund have to be looking to win. Sandefjord have lost 4 in a row away from home, an aggregate score of 9-2.

I'm looking at goals and corners in this one. Kristiansund have been struggling a little for goals recently, but Sandefjord so far there has been 2 or more goals in every away game. Only 1 Kristiansund home game has had less than 2 goals.

KBK also average 6 corners a game at home, and Sandefjord average 4 away from home. An average of over 12 match corners in KBK home games, so definitely going to add that to my bet builder.

Bet Builder: over 1.5 goals and over 9.5 corners(2.03)

Goalscorers to add to bet Builder: Askar(3.60), Kalludra(3.60) or Gussiås(5.00)

Mjøndalen v Odd (Draw)

A fifth straight defeat for Mjøndalen on Sunday leaves them 3rd from bottom with only two wins this season. They had started the season pretty well, but now are starting to look like they will struggle this season, particularly to score enough goals.

Odd on the other hand have found themselves up after winning 3 out of their last 4 games. They eventually saw off Aalesund on Saturday thanks to that late own goal, but the bad news from that game was young striker Tobias Lauritsen has broken his leg in a challenge with the goalkeeper in which he won a penalty. He had previously scored an earlier penalty, and now Odd will be missing him for at the very least 3 months.

His replacement on Saturday was Mushaga Bakenga, but I had to say I wasn't impressed at all, and they will need to find someone else to score the goals.

It is a tough one to pick this again, despite it being 5 defeats in a row, apart from Sandefjord on Sunday it had been a very tough run of fixtures for Mjøndalen. With Odd, their last away game was a 2-0 defeat at Sarpsborg, a team that play a similar style to Mjøndalen. Add to that striker problems, it could be a tough night for them.

Really tough to find anything from a betting angle in this game, so probably best to avoid it, other than maybe under on the goals scored.

Bet Builder: under 3.5 goals, 1 corner for each team in both halves(2.15)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Nakkim(12.00 possible penalties), Olden Larsen(4.00), Rashani(3.10)

Sarpsborg v Haugesund (Home win)

Haugesund got the surprise win of the weekend with a 1-0 victory over Rosenborg on Sunday night. No surprises thought the two involved with the goal, a Sandberg penalty that was won by Kristoffer Velde.

Sarpsborg were well beaten by Viking 3-0, a real step back from them after previous performances. They were really poor against Viking, rarely threatening in attack, comfortably their worst defeat of the season.

This is a game between two teams struggling for goals, Sarpsborg have 10, Haugesund have only 7. So we definitely can't be expecting a high scoring encounter. Last year they drew 1-1 twice, and it is always a tight game between the two of them.

Haugesund have only scored more than once in one game, and that was a 2-2 draw with Kristiansund at home. Sarpsbog haven't scored more than twice at home all season, so less than 3.5 goals looks good here.

In terms of corners, Sarpsborg average over 6.5 corners at home, so I will be looking at that as well.

Neither team comes into this in great form, but if I had to pick a winner it would be Sarpsborg. Haugesund have really struggled to score goals, the penalty in the last game was their first for 5 games, so still no goal from open play since Velde scored against Sandefjord, 7 games ago.

Sarpsborg won their last two home games, 1-0 and 2-0, against Start and Odd, so home form could well win the day again.

Bet Builder: under 3.5 goals total, Sarpsborg to score 1 or more, Sarpsborg to have 5+ corners (2.70)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Velde(5.50), Abdellaoue(2.87) or Jakobsen(5.00)

Strømsgodset v Brann (Draw)

Godset were well beaten by Vålerenga on Sunday, 2-0. They were well outplayed, opened up time and time again down their left hand side.

Brann drew 1-1 with Kristiansund after losing the lead late on in a fairly dull game. Gilbert Koomson scored again, that is 7 now for the season. But worryingly Bamba isn't scoring, he has missed more big chances than anyone else in the league this season. It will be interesting to see if he is given a rest with 3 games in a week.

Godset have only 1 win from their last 7 games, Brann have 2 from their last 8, so it is two teams not in great form, but both in mid table looking to move up. Between the two teams they have only stopped the opposition scoring 3 teams in 20 games. Brann against Viking and Sarpsborg, Godset against Odd.

The last 8 games Godset have conceded at least 1, and Brann have conceded in the last 5 games, so expecting both teams to score here again.

The main threat for Brann has been Koomson, so it could be more trouble down the left hand side for Strømsgodset. Moses Mawa has started to look more of a threat for Godset, his pace could cause trouble in the inside channel for Kolskogen.

An even game expected, and not expecting a goal fest either, and one more thing that can be looked at, is Brann corners. They average well over 5 on the road, so that is something to think about here in a betting sense.

Bet Builder: Both teams to score, under 5 goals in the match(2.00). Can also add 4 or more Brann corners(1.50)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Koomson(3.60), Mawa(3.10) or Taylor(3.40)

Molde v Vålerenga(Home Win)

Molde's unbeaten start to the season was ended up in Bodø on Sunday as they were well beaten 3-1 in the end. Surprisingly Leke James didn't start that one as Omoijuanfo was preferred, so expect James back here and for Molde to bounce back.

Vålerenga were excellent against Strømsgodset, and their right hand side is probably the best partnership in the league just now. Aron Dønnum and Christian Borchgrevink are linking up so regularly, and it was the latter that set up the opening goal on Sunday, overlapping Dønnum as he does often.

This is 2nd at home to 3rd, but with six points between them, I do think Molde will be too strong for them. They have the ability to rotate far more than Vålerenga, and should be fresh to get back to winning ways.

Vålerenga are unbeaten in 7 now, the second longest run in the league, but away from home they have struggled for goals. They have not scored more than 1 in any games away, just four in total in five games.

Molde have scored 12 goals in their 4 home games so far, and it wouldn't be surprise if they get at least two more here. They will be desperate to keep pace with Glimt after Sunday, and like their last two home games when they have led 2-0 at the break, we can expect them to start strong here.

Vålerenga are dangerous down the right as was said, and if Molde have a weakness defensively it is probably on that left hand side, so it should be a nice opportunity for Dønnum to create more chances.

Vålerenga are even money to get 4 or more corners, and they average over 5 away from home, Molde concede an average of over 5.5, so an interesting price.

Vålerenga continue to collect yellow cards, so definitely expecting that in this game too.

Bet Builder: Molde to score in both halves, Vålerenga to have 3 or more corners(2.75)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Leke James(1.72), Stokke(3.60) or Andersen(2.05)

Thursday 30th July

Stabæk v Bodø/Glimt (Away win)

The league leaders Glimt continued their perfect start to the season with a fantastic win over Molde on Sunday. Again it was JP Hauge causing all sorts of trouble, getting on the scoresheet again, along with Kasper Junker, who now has 9 for the season.

Stabæk played out a 0-0 draw at Start, and were in truth quite lucky to come away with a point. They have still only lost twice this season however, against Molde and Rosenborg.

Glimt are an attacking machine, 38 goals in their 10 games so far, and they have scored at least 3 goals in every away game so far. I don't see Stabæk containing them easily here, but they are generally quite good on the counter, so I can see both teams scoring in this one, although Stabæk home games have not being very high scoring this season, only more than 2 goals scored once, in a 3-0 defeat.

Glimt have scored in every half so far this season, except the first half at home to Kristiansund, so to score in both halves will be on here.

At some point somebody will stop Glimt from winning, but I can't see it being Stabæk. They aren't great at defending deep, and give up a lot of chances. No way they will keep a clean sheet here, and there is goals in this one for the lethal front 3 of Glimt.

Junker might not be available, he is carrying a knock, so value in Boniface, who will start if Junker isn't fit.

Bet Builder: Glimt to score in both halves, Both teams to score(2.60)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Zinckernagel(2.00), Hauge(2.10) or Boniface(2.00)

Rosenborg v Viking (draw)

Rosenborg were extremely disappointing in their defeat to Haugesund as they continue to struggle to create opportunities. They have no patterns in attack and Børven is not enjoying playing in this system.

Viking on the other hand appear to have turned things around and the 3-0 win was easily their best performance of the season. The front 3 is really clicking, and despite their third missed penalty(Berisha this time) of the season, they are a real goal threat.

Bytyqi, Ibrahimaj and Berisha are occupying defenders and the two wide men are very good one v one, and with crossing the ball. The real wildcard in the attack though, is left back Adrian Pereira. He scored twice, set up the other and had another two good efforts on goal in this one and he is also a set piece threat.

Rosenborg failed to score for the fourth time this season, but they have scored in their last four home games, so don't expect Viking to keep a clean sheet here. Both teams to score looks likely, and there has been more than 2.5 goals in 60% of each of their games so far.

Another thing to look at here is Viking corners. They average over 7 away from home, Rosenborg concede an average of over 7 at home, but the price is 2.20 for Viking to get 5 corners or more. Good value there.

This is obviously a tough game for Viking, and they haven't won in Trondheim for over 10 years, but they are massively overpriced for the way they have played in the last two games, they are attacking with much more threat than Rosenborg.

Bet Builder: both teams to score, over 2.5 goals(2.00) and add 4 or more Viking corners.

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Bytyqi(5.50!!!), Konradsen(3.50) or Børven(2.00)

Five bets I like this midweek round.

Gameweek 10 Preview

Saturday 25th July

Odd v Aalesund (Home win)

Last week Odd travelled to Sarpsborg, and despite a pretty even game with not many big chances, they came away with a 2-0 defeat, losing two second half goals from shots from outside the box. It was their first defeat in four, so they will be looking to bounce back against the leagues bottom club.

Aalesund lost 1-3 at home to Stabæk despite an improved performance from the previous game. They created plenty of chances, but ultimately were let down again by giving the ball away in dangerous positions and failing to defend well in transition. It is becoming a common theme and something they need to work on.

Aalesund still haven't won this season as they sit bottom of the league with 3 points, although if you look at their last 3 away games, they have drawn twice against Strømsgodset and Vålerenga, and a narrow loss against Sandefjord.

They have conceded a goal in every game so far, and only failed to score against Sandefjord, so this isn't a game I expect to be goalless. I think maybe pressure of a win expected against Sandefjord meant they played their worst attacking display of the season.

In six out of the nine games so far for Odd, they have either failed to score, or there opponents have failed to score, so it is a bit of a contrast between these two sides. Having watched the footage from the last few games however, they don't play a defensive game in particular, and they have been creating chances recently, so I don't expect either side to keep clean sheets.

Another market which might be of interest is corners. Odd concede on average over 7 corners in their home games, so could maybe look at Aalesund for 4 or more corners, they do attack in good numbers.

Bet Builder: Both teams to score, over 2.5 goals (odds 2.00)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Lauritsen(3.00), Haugen(4.33) or Hoff(6.00)

Brann v Kristiansund (Home win)

A game between two teams that started the season well, but have had a mini slump the last few games. Brann drew at home to Start, 1-1. It could and probably should have been a win, Taylor had a good effort well saved when the game was 1-1, and Brann dominated the second half, to no avail.

That is two poor results in a row, with only one goal scored, and they will be looking to get back to winning ways over Kristiansund. KBK have now not won in their last five games, drawing three of them, including a 0-0 draw with Vålerenga last time out.

It hasn't been great for them recently, and in truth they are struggling to create big chances. There was a couple late chances last week, but again Pellegrino wasn't on the end of them, the only one looking likely for them this season.

Only two goals in the last three games, so both of these teams not in goalscoring form. Brann however last week created plenty, and at home here you would fancy them to create opportunities. Gilbert Koomson scored again last week, that is five now for the season. Taylor is getting more chances now than he had been early in the season.

It is Bamba who isn't getting in goalscoring positions, and to be honest I haven't been impressed with his movement any time I have watched Brann.

Last weeks 0-0 for Kristiansund was their second 0-0 of the season, but the other 7 games have seen both teams scoring and over 2.5 goals in every game, and apart from the last two games, Brann games all had over 2.5 goals.

Given that Start have been playing super defensively recently, I'm willing to look past last weeks game, and say this game should have goals in it, and with the odds slightly reflecting last weeks games, I think it is favourable to look at the overs market.

Bet Builder: over 2.5 goals, over 8.5 corners

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Taylor(3.25), Koomson(3.50) or Pellegrino(2.50)

Sunday 26th July

Bodø/Glimt v Molde (Score Draw)

The big game of the weekend between the top two takes place on Sunday with both teams still unbeaten.

Glimt beat Mjøndalen 3-2 on Sunday, just holding on in the end after being 3-0 up early in the second half. It is their 9th win in a row, but this isn't the first time they have been run close with teams coming back at them late on.

Molde won 4-0 at Strømsgodset, although the first half they were really poor and lucky to go in ahead with a late first half goal giving them the advantage. They dominated the second half and looked very convincing and dangerous, particularly on the counter attack, something Glimt are a little open too.

I don't expect this will be a defensive affair, Glimt attack in numbers, and Molde do like to control possession and have a slightly slower build up. It will be the biggest test so far for the home side of their title credentials.

Glimt have 35 goals, but they have conceded in every game except two. Molde on the other hand have kept three clean sheets on the bounce, four in total this season, and they are scoring at a good rate too, 28 for the season so far.

Both teams to score looks obvious here, as do goals. Both teams have been leading at half time in the majority of games, 7 for Molde, 8 for Glimt. But Molde have dominated more second halves, recently they have really turned it on the second half of games.

It is hard to pick a winner, but goals is the one thing we should look at with certain. I do think Molde might let Glimt come on to them early and try and wear them down over the 90, and counter attacks will certainly be dangerous.

Whether they win or not I'm not sure, but I do think they will win one of the halves, and it is a fairly good price to do that.

Bet Builder: Both teams to score, Molde to win either half (2.30)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Zinckernagel(2.40), James(2.25) or Hauge(2.40)

Sandefjord v Mjøndalen (Away Win)

Mjøndalen lost at home to Glimt last week and were unlucky, but that is now 4 defeats on the bounce, and their early season promise is starting to fade a little. However, they showed quality and fight against Glimt, and that should give them some confidence,

Sandefjord lost at Rosenborg, but they went 2-0 down and nearly grabbed an equaliser late on when they hit the bar. So again, that should give them some confidence. That being said, they have lost 6 of the last 7 games.

This game as a result might be a tense affair, and it isn't one we can expect goals. Sandefjord haven't scored more than once in any of the last 7 games, and Mjøndalen on the road have only scored more than once when they scored 3 at hapless Aalesund.

Both teams average over 2 yellow cards per game, so I do expect there to be cards, and it will likely be a bit of a stop start game that lacks real quality.

If you look at the last 4 defeats for Mjøndalen, they have been against Glimt, an impoving Godset, Vålerenga and Molde. Before that they won at Aalesund, and I do think they have a good chance here.

Sandefjord aren't great in open play, and set pieces is something Mjøndalen usually defend quite well.

Bet Builder: Mjøndalen to win, under 3.5 goals in the game(3.10)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Nakkim(10.00, might hit penalties), Ibrahim(2.40) or Brochmann(3.50)

Start v Stabæk (Draw)

Since Start lost 5-0 against Odd, they have decided to tighten things up and approach it differently. That has resulted in 5 games in a row with 2, 1 or no goals. It is something I expect to see again this week. Last week they drew 1-1 at Brann, and although they played better in the first half, the second half was a real backs to the wall display.

Start still haven't won this season and you wonder where it might come from if they continue to play this defensive approach.

Stabæk won last week at Aalesund, a good result, although they gave up more chances than they would have liked. Kosuke Kinoshita became the second ever Japanese goalscorer in Eliteserien with his first of the season, and he will be looking to kick on now.

Again I was impressed with Vetlesen, and also Edvardsen got his goal and looked really lively up top.
Stabæk now 5th, and have only lost two games this season, against Molde and Rosenborg. This will be another game they look to win, and they definitely should be looking to avoid defeat.

Start have drawn 3 of their last 4, and that is a likely outcome here, but it will be a tight game that could be hard to predict a winner.

Stabæk have won their last two away games, so they will be looking to make it three in a row this weekend. If Start are a little more adventurous on their home patch, and having not won yet, Stabæk can hit them on the break, something they are very good at with the pace they have in wide areas.

Bet Builder: Under 3.5 goals, Stabæk to win or draw(1.90)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Kinoshita(3.20), Vetlesen(5.00) or Skålevik(2.75)

Vålerenga v Strømsgodset (Home win)

Vålerenga currently sit 3rd, and they have only lost 1 game so far, but they are still yet to completely convince. They have won 4 and drawn 4, all of their wins coming by just one goal. Last week they had a pretty dull 0-0 draw with Kristiansund, failing to create any meaningful chances from open play.

Aron Dønnum was back, but he has been linked with a potential switch to Besiktas in the last week, it will be interesting to see how reacts. He has been the main creative outlet for Vålerenga this season, and they will be keen to keep him at least for the rest of the year.

Strømsgodset were hammered by Molde, but despite that they have picked up their performances the last few games. The first half last week they were excellent, and should have been easily leading.

Vålerenga are unbeaten at home so far, so I wouldn't expect them to lose here. Also Godset have lost their last two away games 3-0 and 2-0. I would be surprised however if there is more than one goal between the teams in this one, so likely a 1-0, 2-1 or 1-1.

Godset have averaged over 5 corners a game in their away games this season, so that is something to maybe look at if looking at a bet builder.

Bet Builder: under 3.5 goals, Vålerenga to win either half(2.15)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Stokke(2.60), Mawa(3.60) or Vilhjalmsson(2.40)

Viking v Sarpsborg (Home Win)

Viking had their best performance of the season last Saturday evening, beating their rivals Haugesund 2-0, dominating throughout. The front 2 of Berisha, Bytyqi and Ibrahimaj looked very dangerous and linked up to create plenty chance throughout the game, something to can build on going forward. It was their second win of the season, and Haugesund did look really poor, so this week will be more of a test.

Sarpsborg won 2-0 at home to Odd, they are now unbeaten in four, winning three of those games. These are two teams that are evenly matched, and they are both looking to move up the table. Viking have scored in all 4 of their home games so far, Sarpsborg have scored in 3 of their 4 away games so far and in their last 4 games.

I can see both teams scoring here and with the way Viking seem to have found something in the front 3 now, they should create plenty chances. Sarpsborg are looking a lot better recently, Strand Larsen up top isn't scoring goals, but his general play is good and other players are benefiting from his link play.

Neither team have scored a lot of first half goals, 4 and 3 respectively of the 10 they each have, so 2nd half goals something to look at too.

Bet Builder: Both teams to score, Most goals in second half (3.20)

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Ibrahimaj(4.75), Bytyqi(4.33) or Coulibaly(3.75)

Haugesund v Rosenborg (Away Win)

Rosenborg are coming in off the back of a home win over Sandefjord, although it was fairly unconvincing. Despite that they are now six unbeaten, winning four of them. So they travel to Haugesund in good form, and the same can't be said for the hosts.

Haugesund have now lost their last 3 games, and failed to score in the last 4. Against Viking they failed to create anything of note and it was a really worrying display. Sandberg came off at the break, and Velde looked like he was trying to do a lot on his own.

Rosenborg have only lost twice this season, against Glimt and Molde unsurprisingly. They have won 2 of their 4 away games, easily winning at Stabæk and also beating Brann. There last away game was a 0-0 at Start, but this is a game on grass, a surface they play on at Lerkendal, so it should suit them.

Haugesund are being dragged into relegation trouble having only won twice so far this year, against Start and Sandefjord. It is a worry the lack of goals, just six so far in the nine games.

Rosenborg come in as favourites, but they are not huge favourites despite what results should suggest. They usually take some time to get going, still only scored 3 in the first half this season out of the 13 they have so far.

It could take a while but I do think RBK will get the job done here, although it could well be tight.

Bet Builder: RBK to win second half (2.50) and add RBK 4+ corners in the game.

Goalscorers to add to Bet Builder: Børven(2.40), Helland(3.50) or Velde(4.75)

Bets of the Weekend

Stabæk to win or draw, and under 3.5 goals v Start (1.90)

Gameweek 9 Preview

As Eliteserien gets towards a third of the way through, it is clear already that it is going to be a two horse race. Glimt continue to beat everyone in front of them, meanwhile the Molde machine goes on, and just waits for the Glimt slip up.

Gameweek 9 this weekend is the third game in a week, before the teams get the midweek free to rest up some tired legs, as injuries and rotation become more regular throughout Eliteserien, making it ever more hard to predict, especially in the mid table.

Saturday 18th July

Mjøndalen v Bødo/Glimt (Away Win)

League leaders Glimt got a win at home to Kristiansund on Wednesday night, thanks in part to an absolute wonder strike by central defender Marius Lode. It was a very tight game, and Kristiansund sat in a very low block to contain the attacking threat.

The blueprint has been set out, and I do feel that Mjøndalen will be setting up in a very similar system. Kristiansund led at the half thanks to their only attack, Pellegrino put it away nicely. They man marked Saltnes and Fet effectively, and also allowed defenders to have the ball.

Mjøndalen who had been a back 5 earlier in the season, now are using a back 4, and I think they will almost certainly use the low block and 4 1 4 defensive set up that Kristiansund used. What it means is Glimt might not get the goals they have previously, and they will need to score early to open the game up.

Mjøndalen themselves are coming off of a poor display against Strømsgodset, losing 2-1 but in reality it could have been more, Makani saving a penalty for them in the first half.

Glimt have won all 8 games so far, and it has to end at some point, but they are so full of confidence, it really does depend on Mjøndalen playing the perfect defensive game. JP Hauge missed the game on Wednesday, and Tounekti was not as effective on the left. It took Boniface coming on to open things up, he is far more direct and will start if Hauge is still missing.

Also expect Skytte to start instead of Fet, his ball carrying ability was very useful in the second half against Kristiansund, so could be used from the start here.

I do still expect Glimt will break them down, whether that is in the first or second half I'm not willing to bet on. Another thing to look at might be Mjøndalen corners. Glimt are averaging over 4 corners against in the league this year despite their dominance, so might find some value with the home team there.

Bet Builder: Glimt to win, Under 5 goals in the match (odds: 2.00)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Zinckernagel(2.05), Boniface(2.05) or Saltnes (3.60)

Haugesund v Viking (Draw)

Two teams coming off the back of different kinds of losses. Viking were absolutely hammered by Molde 5-0 away from home. They had a couple good chances, notably Bytyqi going clean through at 2-0, but ultimately they were massively outclassed.

Haugesund lost a tight game at Vålerenga by a goal to nil, Benjamin Stokke firing home late on for the hosts. Haugesund should have scored through Benjamin Kallman, but he missed a glorious chance when set up well by Velde, a player who has really impressed the last few games.

These are two teams that had top half ambitions, but are struggling to live up to them. Haugesund have only won twice so far this season, against Start and Sandefjord, and now haven't won in three games. Similarly, Viking won against Sandefjord, so far their only win of the season.

Both sides are struggling for goals, Haugesund only have 6 so far and Viking have 8. So we definitely can't be expecting a goal fest in this one.

Given this is also a west coast derby, these two will likely play out a close game. They played each other three times last season including Viking winning the cup final 1-0, a goal from a penalty. The other two fixtures ended 1-0 and 0-0.

Haugesund will be out for revenge from that final, and I do think they are playing better football than Viking, but it is hard to bet on a result here. Haugesund average 6 corners at home, Viking over 7 away from home, so that market is definitely in play.

If there is to be a winner, I think it might be the home side, with the added motivation of revenge from last years final. Viking on the road have lost 3-0, 2-1 and 5-0 against 3 of the top 5, and they only drew with winless Start, so tough to back them.

Bet Builder: Under 3.5 goals, Haugesund draw or win(odds: 1.80) and add over 9.5corners, odds not available yet.

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Velde(4.0), Sandberg(3.50) or Berisha(3.00)

Sunday 19th July

Aalesund v Stabæk (Away Win)

Aalesund come in off the back of a really poor defeat against Sandefjord and are yet to win. They have not adapted to Eliteserien at all, conceding 26 goals, and worryingly the last game was their worst display in attack.

Stabæk have a day less of rest, which might be significant, as they drew 1-1 in a tight match against Sarpsborg. Sarpsborg sat in deep and Stabæk found it difficult to break them down. Hugo Vetlesen, quickly becoming one of my favourite players in the league, grabbed his 3rd of the season, the 20 year old is really showing a good quality of timing his runs in to the box.

Aalesund worryingly had no shots on target against Sandefjord, and probably worse than that their manager Lars Bohinen has publicly criticised a number of players. This usually doesn't end well, and Stabæk have a chance to stick the knife in even further on Sunday.

Aalesund need to win, and the spaces they leave will suit Stabæk with their energy and pace in attack. Emil Bohinen will be playing against his Dad's team, and he is a really quality midfielder that can control the game. He also hits penalties, so interesting to see him potentially put his Dad's job under pressure.

Stabæk are pretty inconsistent, but they have been better on the road, winning at Kristiansund and drawing at Vålerenga. They also gave Molde a good game until Molde ran away with it in the second half. I think playing away suits them so I fancy them this weekend.

They have scored in all 3 away games so far, and I fancy them to get at least a couple here, but they do give up a fair amount of chances, 13 chances created for Sarpsborg on Thursday, so I think there will be goals in the game.

Aalesund being back home should improve their attacking output, so I think they will get a goal in what should be a high scoring game.

Another thing to look for, referee Rohit Saggi is averaging over 6 yellow cards a game and he is the referee here.

Bet Builder: over 2.5 goals, both teams to score (odds 1.90)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Nordli(3.40), Vetlesen(4.33), Bohinen(6.00)

Kristiansund v Vålerenga (Draw)

Kristiansund nearly became the first team to take some points off of Glimt on Wednesday, but they fell short eventually, and in fairness their defensive display didn't merit 3 points. They are the side that have the lowest possession in the league, relying on counter attacks and also moments of brilliance from Pellegrino.

Pellegrino has 8 now this season, nobody else has more than two goals, so they rely on him massively, and will again here.

Vålerenga put in a good performance against Haugesund, and Benjamin Stokke scored for the second game in a row. Also impressing was young winger Osame Sahraoui, in the absense of Dønnum he showed the creative touch and dribbling quality, it was his cross that set up the goal.

Another tough game to call, but goals is one thing that is most likely. Vålerenga have scored in every game so far this season, and Kristiansund in the last 7 games have scored and also there has been 3 or more goals in every one of those games.

Dønnum is back for this game, so expect him to be creating chances for Stokke and Vilhjalmsson who is playing deeper but still getting in the box for crosses.

They are dangerous from set pieces too Vålerenga, right back Christian Borchgrevink has one of the best deliveries in the league and he has created plenty chances already this season.

For Kristiansund, they haven't won for 5 games now, and there last home game was disappointing 2-1 defeat to Stabæk. So I think this one will be tight, but if anyone is likely to edge it, it might be the away side.

Kristiansund get a lot of corners at home, so that can be backed. Also Vålerenga get plenty yellow cards, so something to look at.

Bet builder: over 2.5 goals, both teams to score(odds: 1.95)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Stokke(3.10), Pellegrino(2.25) or Vilhjalmsson(2.87)

Rosenborg v Sandefjord (Home win)

Sandefjord got a massive home win over Aalesund on Wednesday, their goal coming from Sander Moen Foss, cutting in from the right and finishing neatly into the far bottom corner on his left foot. It was their first win since opening day, and their first goal from open play since then too.

Rosenborg looked pretty toothless against Start on Thursday night, they came away with a 0-0 draw, but it could have been worse. Islamovic has to come out the team, he is offering nothing, they need to put trust in Børven to play up top and get the goals.

This should be a massive mismatch, although the confidence from the win and the extra days rest will be nice for Sandefjord.. I still feel RBK will have too much for them on the day.

As usual it might take some time for the home side to get going, they have scored only 2 first half goals this season, 9 in the 2nd half.

Since an opening day win at Odd, Sandefjord have lost by two goals in each of their other away games, at Stabæk, Brann and Viking, so I think it is good to look at RBK bouncing back from a disappointing Thursday night with a good win here.

Their last home game was a 3-0 win, so something similar could be on the cards here. Sandefjord away from home are averaging over four corners, and RBK concede more corners than anyone at home, so should be value in that one.

Can't see anything other than a home win here, and struggle to see Sandefjord creating too much.

Bet Builder: RBK -1 handicap, and RBK to win the second half(odds: 1.90)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Børven(1.61), Helland(2.20) or Zacahriassen(2.87)

Sarpsborg v Odd (Home Win)

Sarpsborg have turned round their poor start, and now are 3 unbeaten with a couple of wins. Their most recent display saw a 1-1 draw at Stabæk in a fairly even match that either side could have knicked a winner in.

Odd are also 3 unbeaten and have won their last two, after a 1-0 win over Brann on Wednesday night. It was a well deserved win, although the goal was a little fortuitous, poor keeping from Ahamada, parrying the ball straight to Kaasa for a relatively easy finish.

They have started to play better football the last few games, finally adapting to live without Børven, Lauritsen again showing he has nice movement in and around the box.

Jørgen Larsen for Sarpsborg is becoming better and more confident by the week. The young striker has some really good link play, he just needs to add goals to his game now. He hit the post against Stabæk, I feel this weekend he could get one.

Sarpsborg have quality in midfield and usually keep it tight with 3 at the back. This will be another close game, that I can see the home side knicking by a goal. I don't think it will be a high scoring affair though.

Sarpsborg average over 7 corners a game at home, so something to look at their, and I do think they are playing more attacking now than they were at the start of the season.

Bet Builder: Under 3.5 goals, Over 8.5 corners(odds: 2.20)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Strand Larsen(2.75), Lauritsen(4.00) or  Saletros(7.00)

Strømsgodset v Molde (Away Win)

Molde are still unbeaten and their previous two games have probably been the most impressive they have looked this season. A 5-0 hammering of Viking was well deserved, and good to see Leke James with another couple of goals as he begins to look back to his best.

Godset played their best game of the season as well on Wednesday, beating Mjøndalen 2-1, but looking dangerous throughout for the first time this season. They really looked to get Moses Mawa in behind quickly, a tactic I'm sure we will see again against Molde.

Molde have rotated players and they look fresh and another win is likely here. They have been leading at half time in 6 of their 8 games, drawing in the other 2, so I will be looking at the half time price here more than the full time.

Godset are unbeaten at home, but this will be by far the toughest team they have played so far(Odd, Aalesund, KBK, Mjøndalen), and I can't see them having enough control of this game.

I do think that Molde could get caught out on the break with the pace of Mawa, so can see Godset getting a goal maybe. But I won't bet on it, I'd rather look at them getting corners, something Molde do concede a lot of, an average of 7.5 for away games so far.

Molde beat Godset 4-0 both games last year, so it is a team they like playing against.

Bet Builder: Molde to Win, over 8.5 corners in the game(odds: 2.23)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: James(2.00), Ulland Andersen(2.25) or Brynhildsen(2.40)

Brann v Start (Home Win)

Off the back of a disappointing defeat at Odd, Brann have the perfect fixture to bounce back. They probably could have scored on Wednesday, Bamba had an incredible run from an Odd corner, but he couldn't quite finish.

Koomson and Taylor looked a little tired on Wednesday, so they only played just around an hour, and they should be raring to go with an extra days rest over the Start players.

Start had a really good display against RBK, but ultimately they are still waiting for their first win, and they are struggling big time to score goals, just 1 in the last 5 games.

The extra days rest is a big factor for me here, as Start gave everything against Rosenborg, so I expect they will struggle to achieve the same levels here against Brann.

Brann should manage to break down a Start team that will probably sit in deep and wait for counter opportunities. Bamba is absolutely due a goal for Brann, and he will be licking his lips here. The other home games against bottom half opposition, they won 3-0(Viking) and 3-1(Sandefjord), and I expect more of the same here from them.

I can see Brann running away with this, especially if they score early.

Bet Builder: Brann to win, over 1 goal in the match for Brann, Brann to score in both halves(odds: 2.60)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Bamba(2.10), Koomson(2.87) or Haugen(3.75)

Bets of the Weekend in Norway

Brann - 1 handicap v Start (2.40)

Molde to Win, over 8.5 corners in the game (2.23) NB

Tromsdalen and Fredrikstad(both division 2) to win (1.90) NAP

over 2.5 goals double Jerv v HamKam and Sogndal v Sandnes ULF (2.08)

Gameweek 8 Preview

So I decided to change my format a little, and instead of a review of every gameweek, I will just be doing previews, with slightly more on how the previous game went in the preview.

Thanks for your comments on the previous blog, I am glad people are reading and reaching out to me, I appreciate it a lot.

Gameweek 8 takes place on Wednesday and Thursday this week as Bodø/Glimt continue to take the league by storm, and the top two stretch their legs away from the opposition.

Wednesday 15th July

Bodø/Glimt v Kristiansund (Home Win)

The league leaders Glimt remained perfect for the season with a 6-1 hammering of Aalesund on Sunday evening. That makes it 30 goals in the 7 games so far, 18 of them scored by the front 3 of Junker, Zinckernagel and Hauge.

Kristiansund lost at home to Stabæk, losing a late goal after they had earlier been ahead through right back Bent Sørmo. It was the first defeat of the season for KBK, although they have only won twice, so they have to start turning draws in to wins to remain in the top half of the table.
They of course have there own goalscorer in Amahl Pellegrino, 7 so far for the season.

I struggle to see how Kristiansund can cope with the attacking threat from Glimt. It isn't just the front 3, the midfield 3 and full backs all contribute effectively. Add to that they were able to relax in the second half and rest players on Sunday, I can't see anything other than a home win.

The highest and third highest scoring teams in the division, we can definitely expect goals. Glimt have been leading in 6 out of 7 games at half time so far, including all 3 of their home games. They have scored before 32 minutes in every game so far this season, and also, despite being ahead in nearly every game, they have scored in every first and second half this season. Even when 3 or 4 up, they just keep coming forward.

Kristiansund have been better in the first half of games as well this season, although they tend to tire in the second half. With Glimt having a much easier weekend, and resting players, all I can see is them running over Kristiansund here, like they did last year when they won 3-0.

Bet Builder - Glimt to score in both halves, Glimt to be leading at half time, both teams to score (odds: 3.40)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Zinckernagel(Glimt) and Pellegrino(Kristiansund)

Molde v Viking (Home Win)

Molde put in a very convincing display in Saturday in beating Haugesund. They were 2 - 0 up at half time, and got another one in the second half for an easy away win and probably their best display of the season. They remain unbeaten, their only dropped points in a 2-2 draw at Kristiansund.

The goals are coming from everywhere in Molde, top scorer with 3 are James and Hussain joint. Again there was rotation on Saturday, so expecting it again here especially in the wide areas.

Viking lost at home to Odd in a very poor display as they continue to struggle to get going this season. Just one win so far at home to Sandefjord, a team very likely to go down. Viking are struggling for goals, just 8 in the 7 games so far. Berisha is the only player with more than 1 goal, he has 2, one of them was a penalty.

Nothing to suggest Molde won't go and win this one again, they have 19 goals in their 7 games, and although they haven't been as impressive as Glimt, they are very effective and usually when they get ahead they can control the game.

Molde have been solid at home, only conceding 2 in the 3 games so far, scoring 7. It will be a tough night for Viking, and they will likely be set up to counter attack Molde.

Molde have an extra days rest as well, so every chance Viking rotate here and look forward to the weekend against Haugesund.

Bet Builder: Molde to score 2 or more, Molde to be leading at half time, over 9.5 corners in the match (odds: 3.40)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Eikrem(Molde) and Bytyqi(Viking)

Sandefjord v Aalesund (Away win)

Two sides desperate for a win meet in Sandefjord on Wednesday. Aalesund are yet to win and off the back of a hammering from the league leaders, they seriously need some confidence if they are going to start feeling at home at this level..

Sandefjord lost again, this time at Brann, and they are still looking for a win since gameweek 1. They are massively struggling to score goals from open play as well, just one so far the whole season that hasn't been a set piece.

Aalesund have no problems scoring, but they are so poor against a counter attack, and leave themselves far too open. They need to win this though, and no doubt they will still be offering plenty in attacking threat. Fridjonsson has five goals for the season, the big striker looks in good form and he can hopefully pull his team towards some wins.

Sandefjord have conceded 14, so they aren't keeping the score down either, although Aalesund have conceded 25 so far. Aalesund have scored twice as many with 10 goals to Sandefjord's 5.

I can't see either side settling for a point, so expecting Aalesund to go out and try and get the first win, so more goals expected here.

The last away game Aalesund had they played well at Strømsgodset and probably should have won. In fairness to them they have had a really tough fixture list to start the season, so maybe they can kick start it here like other teams have against Sandefjord.

It's really hard to see where the goals are coming from for Sandefjord, but they will find a way against Aalesund no doubt, maybe from a set piece, or on the break.

Bet Builder: both teams to score, over 2.5 goals in the match (odds: 2.05)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Rufo Herraiz(Sandefjord) and Fridjonnson(Aalesund)

Strømsgodset v Mjøndalen (Draw)

Mjøndalen were robbed by Vålerenga on Sunday who stole 3 points from them, with help from some very poor refereeing. Mjøndalen played against 10 men for an hour but couldn't score, or at least the referee wouldn't let them as they had 3 goals ruled out.

One was possibly a foul, another was never a foul, and the third was a little controversial with the keeper down injured after colliding with his own player. Nevertheless, they were unlucky to lose and will be out to get back to winning ways.

Strømsgodset were beaten 3-0 by Rosenborg on Saturday night, although the first half display was probably their best of the season, off the back of a good comeback in the second half against Kristiansund.

Godset are unbeaten at home, drawing with Aalesund and Kristiansund, and beating Odd 1-0. But they have been very unconvincing, apart from two halves of football.

Mjøndalen have lost their last two, both times they have been very unlucky, but both times they haven't started the game too well. Ibrahim after scoring in 4 in a row, didn't score against Molde or Vålerenga.

They set up well away from home, Molde is the only defeat, missing a late penalty that would have made it 2-2. They play relatively defensive football and counter attack well, which might not be good for Godset, who have been struggling to break teams down.

So I think a low scoring game could be on the cards here, and maybe better to look elsewhere for goals. Will be looking at corners, Mjøndalen averaging 5 away from home, and against an out of form team.

Bet Builder: under 3.5 goals, over 8.5 corners (odds: 2.02)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Salvesen(Strømsgodset) and Ibrahim(Mjøndalen)

Vålerenga v Haugesund (Draw)

Vålerenga come in off the back of an important three points in that lucky win at Mjøndalen. Goalkeeper Klæsson won't be here after his red card on Sunday, and also Aron Dønnum is missing this week.

Dønnum will be a big miss, his creativity has been a big part of the teams style, linking up down the right hand side with Borchgrevink. Stokke started up top on Sunday and hit the bar with a header, as Vilhjalmsson was dropped back in to midfield.

Haugesund were well beaten at home to Molde and didn't offer much in the way of opportunities, a problem they have been struggling with this season. Sandberg and Velde were lively, those two have been the best attacking threats for Haugesund so far.

Adekugbe is back from suspension, and Vålerenga will probably need to attack down his side more often in this game, so the threat likely to come from that side, whether it is Finne or Sahraoui who plays on the left wing in front of Adekugbe.

Neither side are scoring as  freely as they would like, Haugesund only 2 in the last 4 games, none in the last two. Vålerenga have in fact scored in every game this season, but never more than two, so likely to score, but it will be a tight game, and without Dønnum that gets harder for them.

The game before Molde, Haugesund played well and should have won, and I expect them to get back to that form, as Molde is a bit of an outlier. They have won 2 and drawn 2 of their 7, but the games they have lost have been against the top 3 teams.

All bar one of Vålerenga's games have been drawn or 1 goal in it, so it will be more of the same, and I think a 1-1 draw or 1-0 win to either team is likely.

Another thing to look for with Vålerenga is they have been card happy this season, so no doubt you can bet on yellow cards in this game. Shala gives away a lot of professional fouls, he is a prime candidate.

Bet Builder: under 3.5 goals, Haugesund to win or draw double chance (odds: 2.05)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Stokke(Vålerenga) and Velde(Haugesund)

Odd v Brann (Away win)

Two teams coming in off good wins, Odd winning on the road at Viking thanks to a Tobias Lauritsen goal, and a really quality winner from Kasper Lunding. It was a first for the club for the on loan Dane, cutting in on his left and firing far corner.

Lauritsen was a threat throughout for Odd, showing a glimmer of light after the departure of Børven has definitely affected them.

Brann blew away Sandefjord inside 15 minutes with three goals from the two wide men. Taylor got the first, but the other two from Koomson continue what has been a great start to the season for the quick winger. That is now five for the season, top scorer at the club.

Brann have impressed this year, far more than last, and that has a lot to do with the form of Koomson, but also the defense. Unfortunately they are having defensive issues with Kolskogen and Acosta, plus Forren not fully fit, they could struggle to keep a clean sheet against Odd.

But no doubt the threat in attack means both teams to score looks good. Only Glimt have stopped Brann from scoring, and they had basically given up by half time due to being blown away in the first half hour.

Matches involving Odd and Brann so far this season have averaged over 11 corners, so I will be looking at corners here too.

This fixture hasn't been notoriously high scoring in previous years, only twice in the last 8 games has there been more than 2 goals, and with Odd recently not scoring too many, I'd maybe not be sure of a lot of goals.

Brann were able to relax in the second half against Sandefjord, so they should be ready to go, and I felt sorry for Bamba on Sunday, he scored but was wrongly ruled out for offside, and he also hit the bar. He is desperate for a goal and this match will suit him perfectly.

Bet Builder: over 9.5 corners in the match, both teams to score (odds: 3.05)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Lauritsen(Odd) and Bamba(Brann)

Thursday 16th July

Stabæk v Sarpsborg (draw)

Stabæk got a great victory on the road at Kristiansund thanks to a cracking late winner from young Kornelius Hansen. He is a real live wire, and pretty typical of the makeup of this Stabæk team. Him, Vetlesen and Gall all impressed on Sunday, and they run all day long.

The average age of under 25 for the starting 11 means they have been inconsistent so far, and are quite hard to predict as a result. They are very hit and miss, but they have generally played well against the teams in the bottom half, with wins over Sandefjord and Godset showing they are probably a top half team.

Sarpsborg have finally turned it round after a bad start and now have two wins on the bounce over Start and Sandefjord. Jorgen Strand Larsen has shown good form and finally found the net against Sandefjord, but it was Lindseth who scored the only goal in a win over Start on Sunday.

One exciting note is the inclusion of Coulibaly in midfield alongside Saletros. He is only 19 but is really looking like a quality player already, with his quick feet and ability to create. This gives Sarpsborg real creative spark from midfield and a back 3 has meant him and Saletros can get forward more often.

This is a game that ended 0-0 last year, but the previous 8 encounters had more than two goals, and I think we could see an exciting game. The energy of Stabæk, particularly in the forward areas could be a big plus just three days after the last game, Hansen didn't start so he will likely start in this one and his pace and direct running could cause problems.

Alhough Sarpsborg have scored four without conceding the last two games, they were against two sides who struggle to score goals, so I don't think they have solved the defensive issues they had early in the season.

Stabæk though have probably been better away from home due to their style of play lending itself to counter attacking football. But Sarpsborg won't sit in here now that confidence is a little higher after two wins.

Bet Builder: Both teams to score, over 2.5 goals in the game (odds: 2.50)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Normann Hansen(Stabæk) and Strand Larsen(Sarpsborg)

Start v Rosenborg

Rosenborg are finally hitting their stride this season after a 3-0 win at home to Godset on Saturday, and also a first goal for Torgeir Børven. They weren't great in truth in the first half, but once they got in front they looked far better and dominated play.

They look like they stumbled across a formation that might work, with Islamovic in behind Børven, with Helland and Ceide on the wings. They scored 3 after changing to that, so expect them to start with that which should suit Børven.

Start have failed to score in three of the last four games, scoring only 1 in that time. They are still looking for a win this season and Rosenborg have been keeping it tight recently, conceding only 2 goals in the last 4 games.

So this could be a tough evening for Start, and I expect Rosenborg to get another win. The pace of Wichne at right back should deal with Ceide, but on the other side I fancy Helland to come in and link up well with Islamovic and Børven, probably creating something for Børven.

Start struggled to create against Sarpsborg, and indeed they were lucky to concede only once. So expecting goals for the away side.

Rosenborg have been better in the second half of games this season, perhaps that is something to look at. They have scored 11 goals this season, only 2 of them coming in the first half. So I like the look of them to win the second half here.

One positive is the likely return to the starting lineup for second top scorer from last season for Start, Martin Ramsland. He hasn't started since he effectively won them promotion with his hattrick in the playoff, so he will be a boost to have back in the XI.

Corners another thing to look at. Both teams average over 5 a game, and over 11 in the matches they have played so far.

Bet Builder: 1 or more goals in the 2nd half for Rosenborg, over 10 corners in the match (odds: 2.20)

Goalscorers to add to bet builder: Ramsland(Start) and Børven(RBK)

NAP of the Gameweek: Bodø/Glimt HT/FT and over 2.5 goals in the match (odds: 2.10)

Next Best bet: Molde to win the first half and score more than 1 goal (odds: 2.00)

Gameweek 7 Preview

A look forward to gameweek 7 in Eliteserien after the players finally got a midweek off. They should be refreshed and ready to go for another week with a midweek round.

Saturday 11th July

Haugesund v Molde (Away win)

The champions have still not quite hit full stride, but they have been rotating their front 3 a lot, and still have won 5 out of 6 and are unbeaten.
Haugesund have won only twice, against Start(15th) and Sandefjord(13th), losing their two toughest games against Glimt and Brann.
I think we might finally see James and Ohi play together this weekend, and Molde should score some goals again. Defensively weakened, so possibly no clean sheet, so goals in the game expected.
Molde are evens to win, which is incredible value, I'll be on that. they have won the last six times these two have met in the league.
Molde averaging 7 corners a game away, Haugesund averaging over 5 at home, so will be looking at that too.

Bet Builder: Molde to win, over 2.5 goals in the game, over 9.5 corners,

Goalscorers I like: James(Molde) and Velde(Haugesund)

Rosenborg v Strømsgodset (Home win)

Rosenborg might finally be improving and against a Godset side that have not looked good so far. Godset have conceded 2 in all 3 of their away games so far, against Start, Stabæk and Sarpsborg. So RBK to score at least 2 here expected.
RBK cross the ball a lot, so corners can be looked at here too, particularly like first half corners.
Godset aren't scoring a lot from open play, RBK kept it nice and tight last weekend to win at Stabæk.
Torgeir Børven will be after his first RBK goal Saturday, I fancy him to get it.
A threat perhaps on the counter for Godset is Moses Mawa using his pace on the left hand side, especially when Hedenstad goes forward from right back, which he does often.

Bet Builder: RBK to win and score 2 or more goals, 3 or more first half corners, Børven to score

Goalscorers I like: Børven(Rosenborg) and Mawa(Strømsgodset)

Sunday 12th July

Aalesund v Glimt (Away Win)

Bottom v top here, and goals galore in both sides. Glimt have 24, Aalesund have scored 9 and conceded 19 in 6 games.
Glimt have been leading 5 out 6 games at half time, so I like them to be leading at the half, also to score at least 2, and in both halves. Kasper Junker has 8 in 6 games, he will be looking to score again.
Aalesund though are a threat going forward, so both teams to score is likely, as Glimt commit so many men in attack.
Expecting loads of cross from Zinckernagel and Bjørkan, so corners as well is likely. Aalesund get in a lot of cross balls too now with their wing back system.
Can't see anything other than an away win, and Glimt scoring goals.

Bet Builder: Glimt to win the first half, over 9.5 corners, Glimt to score in both halves, both teams to score

Goalscorers I like: Fridjonsson(Aalesund) and Junker(Glimt). Special mention for Berg(Glimt) who has higher odds than he should on bet365(17/2 anytime).

Kristiansund v Stabæk (Home win)

Kristiansund are playing well and are a really good bet at home to a young Stabæk side. Two home games so far, nine goals scored, four against. So goals expected again! Pellegrino in great form with 7 so far.
Kristiansund attack at home, and will be looking at corners for them here. 6 and 8 in their two games at home so far.
Stabæk have scored in both their away games so far, and they created good chances on the break at Molde. Expecting more of the same here, they have good pace and energy in the team which could cause trouble, particularly in the second half where KBK lost a 2 goal lead last week.

Bet Builder: Kristiansund to win, over 2.5 goals in the game, Kristiansund over 5.5 corners, both teams to score, a goal in both halves

Goalscorers I like: Pellegrino(KBK) and Edvardsen(Stabæk)

Mjøndalen v Vålerenga (Draw)

Two sides expected to be strong defensively at the start of the season, although no clean sheets in the last 4 gameweeks between them.
Probably not a high scoring game expected, but value in the both teams to score.
Expecitng the right hand side of Vålerenga to cause trouble, Dønnum and Borchgrevink linking up well they will create chances for, maybe a first start here, Stokke up top after his goal last week.
Two midfielders who like a booking, Shala and Aasmundsen.
Mjøndalen unlucky to lose against Molde last week, will be looking to bounce back and are usually strong at home.
Two sides that quite like a yellow card, Vålerenga particularly.

Bet Builder: Mjøndalen to win or draw double chance, Shala to be carded, both teams to score, over 3 cards in the game.

Goalscorers I like: Ibrahim(Mjøndalen) and Stokke(Vålerenga)

Sarpsborg v Start (Home win)

Sarpsborg finally got a win last week, hammering Sandefjord. Start yet to win and I think that wait could go on. Sarpsborg confident, and now Strand Larsen finally got a goal, I fancy him to score again.
Start have struggled for goals in the last few weeks, just 1 in 3 games. Sarpsborg get a lot of corners at home, definitely looking at corners here. The previous away game Start kept it tight with 5 at the back, so I am not looking at goals in this one.
If Schulze and Ramsland are back properly for Start, I think they should manage to get a goal this week, but their fitness is in question.

Bet Builder: Sarpsborg to win, Larsen to score, over 10.5 corners in the match

Goalscorers I like: Larsen(Sarpsborg) and Schulze(Start)

Viking v Odd (Home win)

Two teams not firing, particularly since Odd have lost Børven they look lost for ideas up top. Viking look more lively up top with Berisha, Høiland and Bytyqi, who looked very lively off the bench last week. Auklend a super exciting youngster might start this week, and I think they will win.
Hard to see where Odd will get their goals just now, two games without scoring since Børven left, it was 9 goals in 2 games before that.
Likely to be a tight game with not many goals.
Neither side card happy, or been getting loads of corners, but perhaps in a low scoring game, corners could come in.

Bet Builder: Viking to win, under 3.5 goals, over 9.5 corners

Goalscorers I like: Høiland(Viking) and Lauritsen(Odd)

Brann v Sandefjord (Home win)

Can only see a home win here, Sandefjord haven't won since first day, and haven't scored in last 4 games.
Brann lost 5-0 at Glimt last week, so are slightly overpriced as a result. Can see Koomson having a good day, and Bamba is due a goal.
The only way Sandefjord scoring is from a set piece probably. Brann have good height to deal with that.
Can see Palsson getting frustrated and picking up a yellow for Sandefjord.
Brann to score at least 2 goals in the game is what I fancy.

Bet Builder: Brann to win and score over 1.5 goals, Bamba anytime, under 10.5 corners, Palsson to be carded

Goalscorers I like: Bamba(Brann) and Gussiås(Sandefjord)

NAP of the weekend: Molde to win

NB: Glimt to win the first half
